Ground Control Robotics, founded by Georgia Tech professor Daniel Goldman, recently moved into the Biltmore Innovation Center. The robotics startup builds SCUTL, a low-profile, multilegged robot that resembles a centipede and travels into cramped spaces that people can’t easily or safely reach.

Operators steer SCUTL by remote control from a safe spot while its 360-degree, RGB and thermal cameras send footage back in real time. In pest control, that lets technicians inspect hot, dirty crawlspaces and attics without squeezing in themselves. SCUTL can spot hidden pests, detect moisture and even treat problems at the source with attachable sprayers.

In architecture, engineering and construction, SCUTL climbs over debris and uneven surfaces to reach wall cavities, drop ceilings and ductwork. Its flags heat loss, moisture intrusion, electrical hot spots and hazardous conditions before they become costly defects, all without scaffolding, cutting into walls or putting inspectors in harm’s way.

Please join us in welcoming the Ground Control Robotics team to the building. If you see them around, stop and say hello!
